Fr. Joseph Ciccone is a Priest in the Order of Franciscan Servants and a graduate of Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York with a Master of Divinity Degree in Ministry and Pastoral Care. Fr Joe is currently assigned to Saint Joseph Mission Church in Cliffside Park NJ; bringing the Gospel to those in the margins and to people in need wherever they may be. He has completed his 10th year of CPE (Chaplain Program) at the Jewish Theological Seminary in NYC and NYP (New York Presbyterian Hospital). Fr Joe holds a doctorate in Education and is a retired Police Commander and the former Bergen County NJ Sheriff. Fr. Joe was justice impacted in 2001 and has become an advocate for Criminal Justice Reform and works tirelessly for those whose lives have been altered forever by our system of justice. Fr Joe is the Chaplain for the Fraternal of Police, Local 46 and also teaches for the Jesuit Refugee Mission in Africa online.
Fr. Joe was convicted of a campaign-related crime while serving as the former Bergen County, NJ Sheriff.

Jeff Wertkin graduated from Georgetown University with a law degree and a Ph.D. in Political Science. Jeff practiced law for 15 years in private law firms and for the government, where he took several major cases to trial and earned a reputation for litigating cases with passion and precision. In 2017, Jeff pled guilty to obstruction of justice charges and was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison.
Since completing his sentence, Jeff has worked tirelessly to help those who are still incarcerated come home and to help reduce barriers to a successful reentry. In 2020, Jeff founded The Diligence Group, an advocacy firm that works with non-profit groups to draft and file clemency petitions and conduct re-sentencing work.
In 2024, Jeff joined The Fortune Society as a Senior Director. For more than fifty years, The Fortune Society has provided justice-involved people with the tools, resources and support they need to live as successful and contributing members of their communities. The Fortune Society’s mission is to foster a world where those who are incarcerated or formerly incarcerated will thrive as positive, contributing members of society.
