David Israel is an entrepreneur, investor and advocate for those affected by the criminal justice system. Currently the founder and CEO of one of the fastest growing plant-based cheese companies in the United States, GOOD PLANeT Foods, a mission of David’s is to offer opportunities for re-entered citizens to rejoin the workforce.

With a knack for business that began in his teenage years, David started his first company at the age of 19 and cultivated businesses across a variety of industries, including a chain of Pawn stores (Pawn X-Change), POP! Gourmet snacks and now GOOD PLANeT Foods.

David’s life took an unforeseen turn when it was disrupted by a legal battle that spanned seven years. Ultimately, Israel and his family decided to accept a four-year prison sentence to move towards finding closure on the issue. As an example of his grit and determination, David wrote his POP! Gourmet business plan while incarcerated and launched the brand following his return home. David exited the business successfully before moving onto founding GOOD PLANeT.

While David could have let his incarceration consume him, he instead chose to take the necessary steps to put the 10+ year journey behind him and is dedicated to helping others do the same. David is an example that with the necessary support, motivation and direction, repairing and re-imagining your life is possible. David is an avid traveler and calls the Seattle, WA area home. When he’s not on the west coast, David can be typically found visiting his two daughters.

Brent Cassity is the author of the Book Nightmare Success: Loyalty, Betrayal, Life Behind Bars, Adapting, and Finally Breaking Free: A Memoir. He is the host of the popular podcast Nightmare Success In and Out (Global Rank 1.5%). This is a show about hope from justice impacted people who share, “What happens when your worst fear becomes your reality? How do you adapt survive and overcome?” Brent was a CEO of Forever Enterprises, a national family company, which grew from a regional company to operating in 22 states. He has been recognized by the national media; TIME, CNN, FORTUNE, Forbes, WALL STREET JOURNAL, cover story of ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT to name a few. HBO even did a documentary The Young and the Dead that spawned the popular HBO Series Six Feet Under. Just when he thought he had it all, he lost it all and found himself standing at the Gates of Leavenworth to serve a 5-year sentence. He has coined the phrase “Nightmare Success” because everything you want is on the other side of fear. How did the one thing that Brent most feared…the one thing he said would never happen to him…happen? This groundbreaking event, Starting Over: Out of Isolation and Into Community, will take place on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

For the past 8 1/2 years, our White Collar Support Group has held over 425 weekly meetings on Zoom on Monday nights serving over 1100 people prosecuted for white collar crimes and their families. We are a 501(c)(3) and all services are provided by our volunteers free of charge.
